SACRED HARP SINGING Come to Room 303 for an evening of singing in the early American Shaped-Note style. Many of the singers are University students and/or Shaped-Note enthusiasts, but the sessions are open to everyone. No musical training or special ability required, just an enthusiasm for music and a willingness to laugh at yourself as you (at first) fumble through the shapes. Groups sing on Tuesday nights (during the school year only) from 5:30-7:30pm and the second and third Sundays of every month (year-round) from 5-7pm. On Tuesdays and on the second Sunday we sing from the Denson book. On the third Sunday, we sing from the Cooper book. There are always loaner books as well as books for purchase available at each session. For more information on Sacred Harp singing, visit the Twin Cities Sacred Harp web site. |
